- There are several laws regarding lotteries, to avoid your promotion
being considered a ‘lottery’ you need to make the scratch cards available to everyone without a purchase eg. McDonald’s scratch cards always say ‘no purchase necessary’. For more information visit:

- If the participant is unable to come to your business for a scratch
card suggest they send a stamped self addressed envelope to you and a scratch card will be scratched off and sent back to them.
- If you give the scratch card out with a purchase make the prize
valid on their next visit and limit the redemption to one scratch card per person per visit.
- We recommend that claims are validated by completion of a data capture section on the reverse. Data capture requires an opt in or opt out so you may have permission to contact for offers in the future.
Try to collect date of birth so a birthday offer/invite can be made.
- If you are going to keep the data just for yourself, tell the customer this.
- You should include standard terms and conditions such as management reserve the right to withdraw or alter the promotion without prior notice.
